The Magnus-Moss Warranty Act ______________
In 1997 GM upgraded the stock cooling system to a dual thermostat and hi-flow cooling system. This helps to reduce some cooling problems experienced by the 6.5TD. These parts can be fit to older 6.5TDs.
Some modification to existing parts is required to install these parts, such as cutting the "turbo power" cover for fit if used, and some grinding of the new parts may be required for clearance of other parts. On 1993 models the cruise control and throttle brackets etc. require fabrication. Other minor things may be need to accomplish this task.
A nine blade fan was also added in 1997 and does little for added cooling and mainly just reduces noise.
For my preferred method of added cooling see WATER Mist Injection
The parts include:
These kits use Genuine GM parts and are available from me at this time, also the 1997 fan and clutch as well.
Due to the intense labor to install, I recommend doing this upfgrade only if you need a new water pump, otherwise I'd go WATER Mist Injection first.
